Virgin Money and UK-wide anti-poverty charity, Turn2us are extending their partnership to help more people across the UK access financial support with the introduction of a new grants search tool.
The search tool, which is now live on the Virgin Money website, includes a database of approximately 1,400 grants and support schemes. It has been designed to help people determine whether they could be eligible to apply for grants given as money, products or services from charitable organisations.
The grants don't affect welfare benefits and don't need to be paid back but finding and accessing them can be sometimes difficult and complicated. By following a few simple steps, users can check whether their personal or family’s circumstances, including current and previous occupations, living arrangements and health and wellbeing, could make them suitable for support.
The introduction of the tool comes after recent data shows that Virgin Money and Turn2us have together helped c.50,0001 people to check their eligibility for welfare benefits and tax credits.
Over the past two years, the organisations have worked together to give people access to the charity’s benefits calculator via the Virgin Money website and over £4.5 million1 in eligible benefits support has been identified as a result.
James Peirson, general counsel and purpose officer at Virgin Money, said: “Rising costs have placed financial strain on many households, so it’s more important than ever that organisations come together to support where they can. Our partnership with Turn2us has already had a huge impact in helping thousands of people boost their finances and it’s clear there is a real need for this support to not only continue but develop further. That is why we are encouraging people to take a few minutes from their day and check whether help is available for them.”
Christelle Tambi, product owner of the Grants Search tool at Turn2us, said: "Thank you to Virgin Money for becoming the latest partner to embed our Grants Search tool. There are hundreds of UK charities giving grants to individuals, but it can be hard to find them and know if you are eligible. The tool is quick and easy to use, and this partnership with Virgin Money will mean more people can access the support that they need when they are looking for help with their finances.”
